We open original sources, check dates and distinguish confirmed actions from proposals, allegations and forecasts. We do not manufacture stories to meet a publishing quota. We link to the underlying reporting and documents, and summarize in our own words.

AI transparency

AI-assisted articles carry the byline “The Current news desk · AI-assisted curation.” We do not invent quotations, interviews, eyewitness accounts or sources. Practical suggestions are identified as suggestions.

Corrections

Use the corrections form with the article URL, disputed statement and supporting evidence. Substantive corrections will be appended to the article with a date and an explanation. We do not promise a response time before reviewing the submission.

Coverage and conflicts

We seek coverage across northern, southern, eastern, central and northwestern New Mexico, including rural communities and sovereign tribal nations. Advertising, opinion and news are labeled separately. Relevant personal or business interests should be disclosed.
